Slapping 'alternative' in front of an existing genre can always be a dicey game, but in the case of flourishing London singer-songwriter Kémi Adé and her jazz-infused R&B, it's not wholly inaccurate.

On her latest single, "Blurb", Adé extols the virtues of looking beyond the surface for something deeper and more substantial. It's all well and good reading the blurb, but that seldom matches up to what lies beneath.

Over a free-flowing, jazzy instrumental from production duo Magic & Cyn, Ade balances the delicacy and power of her voice. It's testament to her talents that her voice can sit so confidently over the enormous wall of bass that pushes the instrumental along. 

With any luck, this won't be the last time she works with two producers.
