Michaela Cole Unbreaks Our Hearts With Promise That 'Chewing Gum' Season Three Will Happen After All

January 15, 2018

Last year came the sad, but not entirely unexpected, news that Michaela Cole would not be writing a third season of her sitcom Chewing Gum. She seemed pretty immovable at the time, announcing a musical called Been So Long for Netflix and popping up in Black Mirror and briefly in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Thankfully, Cole has gone back on that and, in a recent interview with the Times, announced that she will be making a third season of Chewing Gum after all.

Where previous seasons have fallen pretty much solely on her shoulders, for third season she's bringing in some extra writers to work with.

When asked about the change up for season three, Cole explained: "Because I don't want to die. My sets are not peaceful. It's a beautiful catastrophe. I am running around like a headless chicken. I don't sleep because I am writing. It's manic. I love it, I don't know if I would want it any other way, but I've learnt from working with proper people like Charlie [Brooker, Black Mirror]; they really prepare in advance."

There is currently no broadcast date for the new season of Chewing Gum, but keep an eye out for London-based musical Been So Long when it drops on Netflix
