Last Japan Launches Ascend Imprint With "East Block" From Collaborative New EP

September 10, 2018

Circadian Rhythms co-boss and Coyote Records regular, Last Japan has just announced the launch of his new imprint, Ascend. Taking its name from his 2016 single with AJ Tracey, the new imprint is designed to be a home for projects that wouldn't necessarily fit on his other outlets.

First release out the gates is this collaborative three-track EP between the founder himself and Finnish producer Inner, who also recently appeared on the Circadian Rhythms show hosted by LJ and producer Blackwax.

Across the three tracks we get all manner of grimey midrange stabs, noisy jungle breaks and big, dubby bass lines from across the UK underground. Ahead of the EP's release (Sept. 28), they've let go opening track "East Blocks", an icy-cold piece of instrumental grime that should get you nicely fired up for the release when it drops. Take a listen below.
