James Blake Releases 'Assume Form', His First Album In Three Years, And It's Essential Listening

January 22, 2019

James Blake's Assume Form may be his first album in three years, but on first impression, it seems to have been worth the wait. With appearances from two of the biggest names in hip-hop in Andre 3000 and Travis Scott, expectations were high but most people seem to be satisfied.

Speaking about the project, Blake said: "On this record, I'm just talking about how I feel now, and I will continue to write about how I feel, or sometimes I won’t talk about how I feel, but I'll fucking damn well choose when I do and when I don't—without feeling like because I'm a man I shouldn't do that."

Many fans are already describing this as the first candidate for album of the year. Given what we know about all the many, many albums that have so far been slated for release this year, that's a pretty huge claim—but it could be accurate. Take a listen for yourself below.
