It's Official: 'Top Boy' Series 3 Is Coming To Netflix

November 08, 2017

Ever since the second series of the legendary Channel 4 series, Top Boy, concluded back in 2013, talk of a third series has been rife. We say concluded, because season two ended on an agonising cliffhanger that we've now been waiting four years to see resolved.

In a 2015 Instagram post that has since been canonized in the history of Drake, Drizzy kicked off his love for all things British with a patois-laden reference to the show, followed by a more straight-up shout-out to Ashley Walters and his character Dushane. "That human element drew me in," he said of the show in a recent interview. "I started just looking them up. Like, who are these people? I remember I hit Future, and I was like, 'This show is incredible.'"

Since then, the internet has been awash with rumours of a third season: Would Drake be producing the show? Would the former Degrassi actor make an appearance? Would Skepta even make an appearance? So far, few of those questions have been answered. It does appear both Ashley and Kano will be returning, and Drake will be officially involved as executive producer, but there's still a question mark over Drizzy potentially acting in the show.

Much of Top Boy's original team will also be returning alongside Ashley Walters and Kano; Ronan Bennett will write the script alongside Charles Steel and Alasdair Flind of Cowboy Films and Yann Demange. Alongside Drake, the executive producers will be Adel "Future The Prince" Nur, with Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson for LeBron James' SpringHill Entertainment.

Season 3 of Top Boy will premiere in 2019 as a Netflix original.
