HERITAGE: The Late Amy Winehouse Lights Up The Room With Deep Cuts From Her 'Frank' Album (2003)

October 31, 2018

It goes without saying that Amy Winehouse's life was marred by tragedy, but before all of that she was just a girl with a once in a lifetime talent.

For today's Heritage, we've dug deep into the mists of time to take you back to the early 2000s when her debut album, Frank, had just been released. Here she is performing two of the album's singles, "Take The Box" and "In My Bed", released in 2003 and 2004 respectively.

As has been pointed out many times before, Winehouse never sang a song the same way twice. This comes down to her roots in, and passion for, jazz. While that free and spontaneous style may seem random to the untrained ear, listen closer and it's clear she has absolute vocal control from start to finish. That vocal power would go on to define her as a singer, along with the heart-wrenching soul she put into every single song, of course.
