HERITAGE: Sun City Ravers' Delight (1998)

November 14, 2017

Whether it's via Kurupt FM, the invincible and endless legacy of DJ EZ, or its influence on grime, Britain's love of UK garage never really went away. It may have faded into the background once or twice, but our love affair with wobbly bass lines and snappy 2-step rhythms is as engrained in us as queuing and chips.

And what's not to love? Today's Heritage plunges us back in time to a DJ Spoony set at Sun City in 1998; a time of over-sized suits, snappy dance moves, excessive hair gel and some of the greatest UKG ever produced. What's really amazing about this clip—and the full vid it comes from—is the eclectic characters. People from all walks of life and a multitude of fashion tastes would descend on the mighty Sun City to come together as one, united by a love of garage.
