HERITAGE: Skinnyman, Blak Twang And MCD Predict The Future In B2B Freestyle (1997)

February 19, 2018

Back in 2004, UK hip-hop legend Alex "Skinnyman" Holland dropped his debut album Council Estate Of Mind, but that was hardly his first foray into music. As a solo artist and as one third of Mud Family (alongside Chester P and Mongo), Skinnyman left an indelible mark on UK rap.

Here he is, back in 1997, with fellow OGs Blak Twang and MCD spraying some typically impressive rhymes. If Skinnyman's section sounds at all familiar it's because some of these bars would eventually find their way into his verse on DJ Vadim's "Colonize Nation" (from 2002's USSR: The Art Of Listening). It's a tough call picking a clear winner here, but Holland drops some surprisingly conscious bars and even makes some pretty wild predictions with his prescient bars.

Take a look below and you can be the judge.
