Though the legacy of She Rockers (aka Donna McConnell, Alison "Betty Boo" Clarkson and Dupe Fagbesa) isn't as widely remembered as it should be, She Rockers paved the way not just for British women in rap, but all Brits. And, yes, it's from the era where UK rappers weren't ready to use their own accents yet, but there's no denying this trio was pivotal in UK hip-hop's early years.

They were also the definition of resourceful, getting their big break by performing for Public Enemy at McDonald's in Shepherd's Bush. The move paid off and Professor Griff ended up producing their debut single. 

Then, when Clarkson and Fagbesa ended up leaving the group in 1989, Donna "She-Roc" McConnell refused to throw in the towel, teaming up with original band member Antonia "Aurra" Jolly to release their one and only album Rockers In London and the single "Jam It Jam", the video for which you can watch below in all its '80s glory.
