HERITAGE: Ragga Twins Get A 'Dance Energy' Crowd Hyped Up To Frenzied Levels With "Spliffhead" Performance (1991)
June 28, 2018
Back before YouTube, if you wanted to see someone like Ragga Twins perform in the late '80s or early '90s you either had to wait until they hit the local venue or tune into something amazing like the Dance Energy show.
Dance Energy, if you didn't know, was basically Soul Train for ravers — the camera focused as much on the dancers in the crowd as it did on the acts performing on stage. It was a breath of fresh air at the time and give audiences and artists alike an outlet for their underground tastes.
This particular clip comes from a 1991 appearance from seminal MCs Ragga Twins whose influence extends into the worlds of dancehall, jungle, UKG, grime, UK rap and basically anything designed to get people fired up and dance.
