HERITAGE: Mis-Teeq Present "Scandalous" To A U.S. Audience On 'Pepsi Smash' (2004)

When they first started, Mis-Teeq's sound was firmly rooted in UK garage, albeit with a softened, poppier edge, but around the mid-2000s, they set their sights on America. Though they kept a UK edge to their sound on their third and final album, Mis-Teeq, they incorporated a hip-hop element to win over Stateside audiences.

That would ultimately win them a place on the line-up for a 2004 episode of short-lived pop show Pepsi Smash. If you can get past the host's use of the phrase "merry old England", it's quite the nostalgia trip with a bill that includes Keane, 311, Dashboard Confessional and a pre-Trump Kanye.
