HERITAGE: Mis-Teeq Make Their Debut On 'Top Of The Pops' With UKG Anthem "Why?" (2001)

March 23, 2018

Originally formed as a four-piece in 1999 Mis-teeq (Sabrina Washington, Alisha Dixon, Su-Elise Nash and Zena McNally, before McNally left in 2001), released two albums that took R&B-influenced UK garage into the mainstream.

Their first round of success came with their debut Lickin' On Both Sides, which hit number 3 on the UK Albums Chart, and then again a few years later with Eye Candy and its lead single "Scandalous". After another hiatus and reunion the three eventually split once and for all in 2005.

"Why?", from Lickin' On Both sides, was their first hit and one of the few tracks to feature McNally. The track was an instant hit and landed them a slot on Top Of The Pops almost immediately. Take a look at them performing the track, below, back in 2001.
