HERITAGE: Master Of British Soul, Omar Performs Classic Single "There's Nothing Like This" (1993)

February 06, 2018

When Omar's (aka Omar Lye-Fook MBE) debut album There's Nothing Like This dropped in 1990 via Kongo Records, it managed a pretty respectable #54, but it wasn't until the following year when Gilles Peterson's Talkin' Loud imprint reissued the album that it broke the top 20 (peaking at #19 in the UK album charts) and the album started to reach a larger audience.

Eventually, in 1993, Omar was invited onto UK soul and R&B show New Soul Nation. On the show Omar performs the album's title track and his biggest single to date (the single hit #14 in the UK charts), before sitting down with Lenny Henry to talk about the impact of the album and the continued success it was enjoying.
