HERITAGE: Dizzee Rascal Talks Winning Mercury Prize And Pressure Of Making 'Showtime' In 'Bow Selector' Doc (2007)

September 25, 2018

It seems like a lifetime ago that Dizzee Rascal was the raw new talent tearing up the mainstream with Boy In Da Corner, but that's the era we're dipping into for today's Heritage.

Created as part of the promotion surrounding Maths & English, this Bow Selector documentary got up close with Dizzee to dissect those years and get his perspective on the whirlwind of attention that surrounded him.

"I'm an attention seeker who don't like attention," he says. "It don't makes sense, does it?"

The whole documentary is essential viewing for even the most casual fan, but it's the 16-minute mark we've highlighted. In it, he discusses how his life changed overnight; the instant fame (press posting up outside his house 24/7), the sudden rush of mainstream attention and, of course, the intense pressure to follow-up the game-changing album.

Take it all in below.
