HERITAGE: Before Mica Paris Was A TV Presenter, She Was Gracing 'Top Of The Pops' With Her Soulful Voice On "My One Temptation" (1988)

If you recognise the name Mica Paris it's most likely through her TV and radio work, both as presenter and actress, but all that came after a successful career as a singer. From her debut in 1988 through to the mid-2000s, Paris dropped seven studio albums and a Best Of, exploring a blend of pop, soul, R&B and gospel and spawning a long list of chart-invading singles.

One of her many soul anthems was her debut single "My One Temptation", taken from the So Good album of the same year. Take a look at her performance on Top Of The Pops from that year and pretty soon you'll realise you've heard this one a lot already. Dig deeper into her extensive catalogue and you'll soon notice the same can be said of a lot of her releases.

Though she still performs regularly today, Paris eventually moved into presenting in the early 2000s with Soul Solutions on Radio 2, which kickstarted a career of documentary making, radio shows and TV appearances, most notably with her Channel 4 doc The Gospel Of Gospel, where she looked at the influence of the church on music.
