HERITAGE: A Diverse Crowd In Dalston's Labyrinth Raves Its Heart Out To "Aphrodite" (1995)

Dalston's Labyrinth is a beloved part of UK club culture history and cherished by the thousands of ravers that went there over the years. When rave culture exploded in the UK in the late '80s, Dalston's Labyrinth club, run by Joe Wieczorek, was perfectly positioned to capitalise on the culture shift since it was one of the only London venues at the time with a license to run to 6am.

The club's openness to rave culture was central to its popularity. Besides being one of the first clubs ready to host all night raves, it embraced each new cultural shift, from acid and hardcore to drum & bass and jungle. As you can see below, Labyrinth was a haven for ravers from every background and emblematic of the positivity and inclusivity that defines rave culture.
