Gorillaz Share New Space-Age Version Of DRAM-Assisted "Andromeda"

December 05, 2017

Damon Albarn has always seemed to be at his most excited and enthusiastic when working on Gorillaz. Each of their albums over the years has seen him and his rotating cast of characters and musicians stretching out into some pretty experimental territories, all the while somehow keeping it catchy and likeable.

Their latest album, Humanz, was a tour de force that perhaps balanced their experimentalism and pop sensibilities better than any other album, despite its chart success not quite rivalling some of their others. Features included Popcaan, Vince Staples, Kali Uchis and Jehnny Beth of the Savages, and of course DRAM on "Andromeda", which has just been reworked by the band.

The original version of "Andromeda", which also featured backing vocals from Roses Gabor, was a snappy piece of electro pop with some space-age flourishes. The new 'DRAM Special', however, cranks its futuristic edge up a few notches for a psychedelic funk dream.

Take a listen to the new version below.
