GoFundMe Launched For Cooly G After Possessions Destroyed In Fire

February 12, 2019

News has emerged that on December 31 last year, the Shurgard Self-Storage warehouse in Croydon was struck by a fire. It appears all of the 1,198 units were destroyed, including a unit being rented by Hyperdub DJ and producer Cooly G.

What's more is the reason her possessions were being stored in there is because her previous home had been destroyed in a flood and she was using the warehouse while she looked for a new home. Among the items she lost in the fire were studio equipment, vinyl records, furniture, and clothes belonging to her and her children.

It's not yet clear whether she'll receive any compensation from the company that owned the warehouse, but according to the GoFundMe page that was set up on Feb. 6 by Hyperdub, Cooly was "mis-sold insurance which will not come close to covering the value of the items lost and currently the company appears to be refusing any claims of compensation."

Head to the GoFundMe page to contribute Cooly G and let's hope she's able to recover from this quickly.
