Flohio, Clams Casino And Cadenza Are A Triple Threat On "Pounce"

December 06, 2018

Without a doubt, one of the brightest stars to emerge in 2018 (and it really has been a phenomenal year for new talent) is South Londoner Flohio. The Wild Yout EP alone arrived to rapturous reception, and that's to say nothing of her collabs. L-Vis 1990 and Modeselektor have both tapped her up for bars, and now it's the turn of Cadenza and Clams Casino.

Though the two producers operate in slightly different spheres — Clams providing much of U.S hip-hop's most bleeding edge instrumentals and Cadenza detonating sound systems with his distinctly UK sound — on "Pounce" their contrasting styles come together neatly.

Together, Clams' knack for ominous soundscapes and Cadenza's shuddering bass production come together to provide Flohio with one of her most epic backings yet. While the grandeur of the beat plays out, Flohio rides it with a commanding presence and a flow that could only have come from the South London wonder.
