Dev Hynes Wishes Us "Happy Black History Month" With Two New Blood Orange Songs

February 06, 2018

Back in December, singer/songwriter/auteur Dev Hynes teased some brand new music, with the caption "4(?)🤪🤔🤫" as well as another post claiming that his next album was "78% done." In fact, his whole Instagram is littered with clues as to the new album's sound, including the hint that he's been working with A$AP Rocky and recording in Jamaica.

Now Hynes has dropped two new original songs under his Blood Orange moniker, "Christopher & 6th" and "June 12th"—though it's not yet clear if they'll be on the album. The first has a sort of laid-back jam by the campfire vibe with the various vocals and guitar parts flittering in and out of the mix freely. The latter, meanwhile, has a more electronic edge to it, with a simple drum beat and ambient synths providing the backdrop for both Hynes' sweet harmonies and the spoken word style (that verges on rapping) which he employs on the verses.

Listen to the new cuts below and keep an eye out for the album.
