Cooly G Unearths Dancefloor-Focused "Digitally Higher" For Night Slugs Anniversary Comp

April 04, 2018

Ten years after launching Night Slugs via their initial club nights, L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok are looking back at what has been an astonishing decade for the crew. With club music as wild and genre-hopping as it is today, it can be easy to forget just how much of a breath of fresh air Night Slugs was when it launched.

That just makes the timing of their Allstars X compilation all the better. A mixture of rarities, remixes and unreleased gems, the new comp strikes the balance of nostalgia and progression deftly. The latest extract to emerge ahead of the comp's April 27 release date is Cooly G's "Digitally Higher", a shuddering, ravey club track with thumping drums, swirling synths and an eerie vocal sample, coming straight from her own archives.

Cooly explained: "I think this tune was made in 2010/11. I remember getting a vibe from promoting a monthly rave at the [London club] Brixton Mass, the crowds and the vibes got me in the mood to create this track. I totally forgot about this version. When they asked [to include it] I was like 'Yeah, sure, no problem.' It's a solid track and will sound perfect on the dance floor."
