Big Zuu's New "Xenophobia" Freestyle Cuts Right To The Heart Of Issues Facing Britain's Youth

April 13, 2018

Big Zuu's never been one to shy away from the tougher subjects. Last year's deeply personal Warm Up Session ranks highly as one of his most visceral freestyles, but his latest one—simply titled "Xenophobia"—packs an even bigger punch.

Over the sparse and frosty Scott Styles instrumental, Zuu runs through the many problems facing Britain today and how they're manifesting in young people, particularly young people of colour. He cites housing shortages; policing that is veers between over zealous and apathetic; the media's portrayal of terrorists depending on skin colour; Islamophobia; government spending cuts; and the growing divides between rich and poor as all being reasons for the current climate we find ourselves in.

It's a dizzying whirlwind of subject matter, definitely deserving of a few replays to digest it all, but most importantly, it's a damning and well-informed response to anyone who says today's youth are apathetic when it comes to politics.
