Baby, It’s Cold Outside: R&G Songs To Set The Mood

Baby, It’s Cold Outside: R&G Songs To Set The Mood

September 19, 2017

It's September now. Summer is over—the sun is dead—and cuffing season is officially upon us. We've all spent the last few months hopping from beach to beach, festival to festival, eyeing up potential partners to keep us warm in the cold winter months and, hopefully, you were successful in that endeavour.

If you weren't, treat this as your soundtrack to staring wistfully through a window on a rainy day. If, however, you were successful, we've put together a playlist to showcase grime music's softer side because there definitely is one. Right from day-dot, grime producers have never shied away from their romantic nature. There's R&G master DaVinChe, Ruff Sqwad and Wiley's "Together" from the early years, then there's the more recent spinners like Jammz's "Who's That Girl?" or Bok Bok's "Melba's Call", the cut that gave Kelela her breakout.

Grime has always had a sensitive side, so—with boo curled up beside you and an M&S meal for two fresh out the microwave—let's revisit some of its seductive riddims.
