RELIVE THE RETURN OF CHOCKABLOCK

Last Thursday night (Sept. 6), ChockABlock—the iconic club night founded by TRENCH’s Joseph ‘JP’ Patterson and Laura ‘Hyperfrank’ Brosnan—returned in a big way as it descended on the Miranda, Ace Hotel, in Shoreditch. Joining us for the celebrations were D Double E, Jammer, Mez, P Money, Jammz, Carns Hill, Marcus Nasty, A.G., DJ Argue, DJ Fira and Mic Man Frost. That was who took to the stage, at least. Mixed in with the ravers were one or two familiar faces too; C Biz, Blacks, Youngs Teflon, Rebecca Judd and one or two others could be seen cutting a quick shape or throwing up a gunfinger.

Naturally, D Double’s set was an energetic series of wheel-ups that threatened to tear the whole building down. Fortunately, Grime Report mastermind Lordie was on hand to capture some of the madness of the Newham General tearing through a Jackuum!-oriented set that included “Back Then”, “Nang”, and “Better Than The Rest”, alongside the usual anthems. Even security couldn’t help but get into it! If you didn’t make it down, well, unlucky. Don’t worry, though: you can relive the night via Lordie’s video above and Jordan Curtis Hughes’ pictures below. Just make sure you learn from your mistakes and secure a ticket next time.
